Is the time right to move to Magento 2?

220517-magento-2With support for the current version of Magento ending at the end of next year there has never been a better time to start the migration to Magento 2.

Although you’ll still be able to use Magento after November 2018, Magento will be no longer be creating security updates which are essential for keeping your store safe from vulnerability.

Because Magento 2 is a completely new platform migrating to it isn’t a simple job but continuing to run Magento with no official support after next year would be a very unwise decision.

The first beta version of Magento 2 was a released in 2015 and although there are a few minor bugs still to be fixed Magento 2 is now considered a stable platform to run your eCommerce business.

Having been totally recoded Magento 2 is bigger, better and faster thanks to improved scalability and full page caching which has been built into the community edition for the first time.

Now that Magento 2 is almost two years old there is also improved availability of third party extensions which allow you to add further functionality to your eCommerce store.

Our top reasons to move to Magento 2 include –

  • PHP 7 support
  • Improved admin functionality
  • Full page caching
  • Improved Site speeds
  • Better checkout flow
